today was one hell of a day...
it all started at 7.15 am..
went to the hospital even before the whole mangalore was awake..we waited for an auto..but as i said the city was still asleep..we had to walk to the hospital..enjoying the cool morning breeze..such refreshing...
arrived around 7.3o am..
the ENT department was still closed..the hospital was so quiet and empty..waited there till the pg's arrived..we all read our book as time was still there for us to study..today was our ENT pracs n viva..including clinical case..discussion..x-ray and the whole box of instruments..
around 8.00am..
case taking started..a batch of 4 students went to take different ENT cases in 4 different cubicles..as i was one of the last 6 students..i had to wait and wait..it was nothing at that time compared to what happened later..
around 9.30 am..
i finally got to take my case..got a case of gross DNS with headache???talked to the patient in kannada..yup i dunno how ..but i managed..the patient was a profesional patient..he even tried to loosen up my head mirror..i knew what i was doing..then when i wanted to examine his EAC first..he gave me the ear speculum..he told me to use that for better focus..ok mr krishna..i know what i'm doing..but he was a nice guy..very co-operative patient..
then at around 10.00am..
started writing case sheet..finished everything about the case..then we were told to sit at the corridor..we had to wait for our turn for viva with the profs..we continued discussing about surgeries..procedures done..and lots more stuff..
at 12.00pm..
only around 10 people were done with both case and instument..there was still around15 more people including me..we stayed there..sacrificed lunch time..
at 1.15pm..
maam told us to have lunch till 2pm..i went home and pray..did'nt even eat becouse of the anxiety of waiting..
went back at 2pm..
viva started back around 2.30pm..and then it went on forever..at least one person had viva for half an hour..
at 4pm..
my turn still hasn't come yet..how long do ihave to wait..i just wanna get this over with..then around 4.30 i did my case presentation..around 4.50 i had my instruments and x-ray viva..
since we were the last 10 people..we had to name all the instruments in that box..identify all the x-rays that was there including a CT scan of the osteomeatal complex..
both the profs were very nice and taught us what we needed to know to prep us for the uni exams..it was more like a one on one tuition..
then at 5.10pm i finshed the whole thing..that was me..there were still 6 other people after me..and they all finshed at 6pm..
that was the longest exam ever in my whole life..from 7.30 am i was in the hospital till 5pm..
when i came early in the morning the hospital was quiet n empty..and it was the same way when i left at 5pm..
tiring day..but all turned out well...
