all this while i've been introducing myself as nur to all my profs, sister, pg and co-interns..since my second name is much more difficult to pronounce nevertheless remember..and it was'nt a problem for me since i was the only malaysian in my group..
now..my housemate has joined my group..she also has a 'nor' in front of her name.."nur, nor, noor" is a common name among malay girls..but she introduced herself as aelena..
so one of my co-intern saw her log book and said this is also "nur"..then i told them if i want to be called by my second name no one can pronounce it..
then today me and my housemate were typing discharge summary when this guy came in..he called us..
"nur".."aelena"..he meant to call both of us..but then i laughed..i said ur basically calling aelena's full name not me..heh..
its all in a name..i bet if one of my co-intern says they are posted with "nur" to other malaysian..no one will no who this "nur" is..
eversince starting internship..i've been called nur..binti..nur binti..nur malaysia..dr..lady..sister..lady doctor..intern..hello..madam..
i still don't mind..but why when a lady treats them..why do they call us sister??? we are doctors ok..
i haven't been called akka yet..but if someone uses it..its so downgrading us to a servent..if a guy comes they'll respect and call doctor..but if a girl comes..sister!!i'm not wearing a sister's uniform ok..i don't have anything against sister's..but please laa..
