life as an intern is quite cool actually..i get to see the other side of the medical world..before this as a student..our routine activity was to attend clinics in the morning and classes in the afternoon..then by the end of the semester exams..
now as an intern..eventhough its somewhat busy with no weekends..its kinda fun..here in india we interns aren't given full responsibility over a patient..we just do what we are told to do..we get to practice stuffs on patient ( that is if ur posted in paeds, obg and casualty)..for other dept only if ur lucky..
well now i'm in ortho..and its really like a boys club..there are no lady doc except for me and my fellow intern..eventhough i have not got a chance to put a cast on yet..i get to see it being done..i also had a privilege to watch a hip hemiarthroplasty..and i got a first class view..i no longer have to squeeze in between people to see whats going on..the surgery was cool..they displaced the whole joint and the head of femur went out with a "POP".. then put it back together again..it only took around 1 1/2 hours..
before this i was only reading books and never seen that kind of surgery being performed..now i've seen it and lots of other surgeries with someone actually telling u what they're doing now i understand it better..
tomorrow i have another surgery..we'll see how it goes..of course i'm just a spectator but its more fun now..
more about intern life later..
